"Being an orthodontist is truly the most amazing job in the world! I love that our patients allow us to become a part of their lives and really get to know them. Since we first meet many of our patients as young children, we have the unique opportunity to watch them grow up over the years and blossom into wonderful young adults with healthy, beautiful smiles!
My enthusiasm for orthodontics started at an early age. I had the opportunity to work in our office while I was in high school and during that time saw just how important orthodontic treatment was to our patients and their families. I was so excited to return to my hometown in 2006 and join my father in the practice I had grown up admiring."
Education and Continuing Education
Dr. Buren was raised in Newton and attended Grinnell College, where she earned her BA in biology. She went on to earn her Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry, where she was elected senior class president and received numerous dean’s leadership awards. She also had the pleasure of serving as president of Iowa’s chapter of the American Association of Dentistry for Children. These experiences and many hours in clinical rotation helped her realize just how much she enjoyed working with young people and that orthodontics was a perfect fit.
Dr. Buren completed a full-time residency program at the University of Iowa where she received a Certificate in Orthodontics and a Master of Science. Her research on enamel demineralization (white spots) is published in the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics and she is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthodontics.
Orthodontics is a constantly evolving field, which makes staying current on new technologies and treatments through continuing education very important. Dr. Buren enjoys working to provide her patients with the most up to date and effective orthodontic treatment possible. She is also a member of these professional organizations:
- American Association of Orthodontists
- College of Diplomates of the American Board of Orthodontics
- Midwestern Society of Orthodontists
