Dr. Jennifer Loucks Buren, D.D.S., M.S.

Dr. Buren grew up in Newton and had the opportunity to work in the office while in high school. She enjoyed getting to know the patients and families, and loved seeing the positive effects orthodontics could have in a patient's life. She received a Biology degree from Grinnell College and her Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry. While in dental school she was elected Senior Class President, received numerous Dean's Leadership Awards and was president of Iowa's chapter of the American Association of Dentistry for Children-this experience, combined with her clinical rotations in the pediatric and orthodontic departments, helped her realize how much she enjoyed working with young people and that Orthodontics was a perfect fit for her!
Dr. Buren completed her specialty training at the University of Iowa where she received a certificate in Orthodontics as well as a Master of Science (M.S.) degree. Her research on the prevention of enamel demineralization (white spots) during orthodontic treatment has been published in the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics. She is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthodontics and is happy to serve as a Mentor for dental students at the University of Iowa.
She is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the College of Diplomats of the American Board of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, the Midwest Society of Orthodontists, the Iowa Society of Orthodontists, the Iowa Dental Association, the Jasper County Dental Society, the Des Moines Orthodontic Society and the Des Moines District Dental Society.
Dr. Buren and her husband, Chris, live in Newton with their Black Lab, Cooper. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family, watching movies and cheering on the Hawkeyes!
